Working within a team - For this group exhibition we decided to break up into small teams to cover all areas of running the show smoothly, I was part of the finance team and helped with some areas of marketing. It was the duty of the finance team to secure the funds for the gallery deposit, marketing materials and drinks for the private view. We communicated well with the marketing team and were able to gather all the necessary funds for the show, my team members were very efficient in organising drinks for the private view and getting them delivered on time to be taken to the gallery.

Using mail out programme - In order to reach as many people as possible we pulled together a mailing list which I organised into a spreadsheet and in put that data into a MailChimp, this allowed me to create a newsletter that could be set en masse to our mailing list. As this system is now set up we can continue to use it for future shows.

Making site specific work - Making an art work for the Crypt gallery proved to be the greatest challenge for me as it is impossible to ignore the connotations of the site, I began my thinking on our first site visit when I found a small dark space that could easily have been by passed, I found this very interesting and decided I wanted to make a piece specific to this space. Working in this way I found I was able to consider many different forms that could occupy the space, I finally came to a form made of muslin and a light orb. I chose these materials to give the piece a subtle presence within the space but later found that the piece was more effective with the orb switched off, Andrea Coltman’s work was position just round the corner and gave off a UV light which caused the muslin of my piece to glow in a more ghostly way, a happy accident that turned out to be more effective!
