For the duration of May RISEgallery presented a photography exhibition called ‘With Each Passing Moment’ featuring the works of William Klein, Bob Carlos Clarke, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Helmut Newton, Ralph Gibson, Maurizio Cattelan, Steve McCurry, Seamus Nicolson, Tim Strange, Susan Derges, Carlos Sebastía and Luis Lazo. We sourced all the works, curated the exhibition and had our private view on 4th May. In connection with the works Carlos displayed in the gallery we organised a space for him in the Croydon Arts Quarter to put up a 10 metre street work, this has subsequently been added to and documented daily.

In  conjunction with this exhibition I have been working on a project with ArtHalo and Crisis members for this year’s Art In Crisis festival. For many of the members this is the first time they've used a digital camera so photography is a completely new skill for them, we have been looking at different elements that come together to make interesting photographs and building their portfolios toward an exhibition that is due to open on 17th July.

Curation - All the photography pieces had to be framed before installing and the exhibition in the gallery was quite different to others we’ve had before so it was a challenge to curate, this has encouraged me to think of new ways of hanging works and consider a different variety of works for future exhibitions. I have begun organising the curating of the street works for Art In Crisis, working with photography in external spaces is something I’ve not done much of before so it is quite exciting as it adds another dimension to the work.

Working with public organisation - This is a skill I’ve been building steadily and now feel much more confident working with large organisations, though it does present its problems particularly in the form of paper work that goes with it. I have been able to build strong relationships with the organisation but most valuable to me the relationships with the members, being able to guide them in their work is incredibly rewarding and being able to facilitate their exhibition is an honour.

Organisation - I am in planning stages now for several events later in the year, the Croydon Youth Arts Take Over and Urban Photography Festival will cross over into another project as they will work well within the perimeters of the pop up space. I have started organising these projects now to ensure we can provide the best quality exhibition for all those involved and audiences coming to see it.
